"There is no hell but this - a body without a soul, or a soul without a body. Those who see any difference between soul and body have neither." --Oscar Wilde (1854-1900)
"Beauty"
A true beauty
in our hearts
should dwell,
for our body
serves - ONLY - as
an ephemeral shell.

The contemporary times we live in are no different from those Oscar Wilde lived in. The similarity of the fascination with the outer beauty being manifested in hypertrophy of the form over the content is uncanny yet very prominent and clear. In "The Picture of Dorian Gray" Oscar Wilde is expressing his cry over the ninetieth century shallowness and ignorance of the human mind in the words of sarcasm: "Those who find ugly meaning in beautiful things are corrupt without being charming. This is a fault. Those who find beautiful meanings in beautiful things are the cultivated. For these there is hope. They are the elect to whom beautiful things mean only Beauty."
It's amazing how our society claiming to be so perfect, intelligent and wise can so easily be manipulated and tricked by what on the surface. I wish people finally understood that it is not the clothes that adorn a man but it is a man who makes clothes look good on him. But sadly there are still people with negative self-image harbored by their subconscious who continue to conceal their true self and "beautifying" their outer shell with extreme make-up and an overly avant-garde clothes.
Isn't a time to finally stop acting like a studio-manufactured Hollywood star lacking any substance and focus on our internal talents, beauty and values such as personality, character, intelligence and spirituality?
