Art on-demand...

I don't understand this whole concept of 'art on demand': "Paint me this, paint me that!" Artists should be able to freely create art exclusively as direct response to their own spiritual journey and an inspiration they receive from the Universe. Each artwork I create is unique and deeply connected to my soul. This is how I express my feelings, emotions and my state of mind. Artists are not a factory line workers. We are tender and ingenious creators not numb robotic duplicators. Unfortunately, some of us have no other option but to succumb to the paying patrons demand in order to pay bills and to put food on the table, including my own father, alumni of the Warsaw Fine Art Academy. Sadly, such approach was very frustrating to him. Creating 'art on demand' often was a great obstacle standing his way to create art of his own spiritual yearnings. There is of course a difference between patrons commissioning an art piece giving the artist an absolute freedom to choose a concept, which is a "dream come true" and those who tell the artist specifically what they want thus limiting his/her own creativity in choosing desired motif.
